The Greg Brady Project

Welcome to the official Barry Williams' blog

My friends call me Barry. From time to time I also hear the name Greg. Yeah, as in Greg Brady. The Brady Bunch represents a fun time in my life. But it’s only part of the story. There’s more to say and that’s what The Greg Brady Project is all about – a place to say it. So, I’ve invited some friends to join me and share their perspectives on the Brady’s, the 70′s and just about everything else. Now, I’m inviting you…

Q: [by danh] What do you do to keep yourself looking so young?

A: Well thank you. There are things that I do to stay active and healthy, but the bottom line to looks I think, are genetics. I Swim, play tennis and golf. I eat well, low sugar, few desserts. I also have hair transplants; they help.

Q: [by cogitolateral] In no particular order, please describe your nicest, silliest and scariest encounters with a fan(s)?

A: Nicest: A fan shared how through watching our show it gave her hope from a very challenging family world she was trapped in. She went on to become not only successful but happy. Silliest: A girl who brought four friends along on our first blind date. They remained hidden (‘till I spotted them) and were there to spy on us. There wasn’t a second date. Scariest: Being chased by fans, who had turned into a mob, following a Brady Bunch Kids Concert. They were screaming and trying to pull at us. I was concerned about Susan and the girls, and wasn’t sure we would be able to calm the crowd. We did get away.

Q: [by jardevas] Hi, Barry. It's nice of you to do this for your fans. My question: Do you have any tattoos? A pierced ear?

A: Greg Brady INKED? No. I like tats on the girls though.

Q: [by bryan.bauman] I understand you were at Seymour Johnson AFB for the Air Show on May 12th. I am a fire fighter on the base and was out on standby on one of the crash trucks. What did you do at the air show? Did you enjoy it? I am a fan from way back and have probly seen every episode after school in the 70's. I would have loved to have shook your hand. Thanks, and thank you for supporting the troops! Bryan Bauman, GS-07, Lead Fire Fighter, Seymour Johnson AFB, NC

A: I had a great time on the base and I was there for the whole week. Richard Lambert, who was my host, provided a royal tour. F15 Simulator, Control Tower, Simulated Parachute Jump, Bomb Loading, In-flight Air Refueling, Survival Simulation, RAPCON, the Air Show, and introductions to some of the finest people I have ever met, including Col. Qwast. I’m sorry we didn’t have a chance to meet, but I may be back on the base this summer for a ride in one of the Strike Eagles. Hope we’ll have a chance to meet then. Thanks for all of the good work you are doing on the base and for writing. Oh, and the Air Show was fantastic. Since I returned home I have started my ground training to become a private pilot.

Q: [by jim] When in your life did it sink in that you were going to be recognized everywhere you went for the rest of your life?

A: In 1993 I was walking in NYC at 56th St. and Third Ave. when a public bus, full of people, stopped in the middle of the street, holding up traffic, so that the bus driver and his passengers could wave and say hi.

Q: [by cas82958] Hey Barry got a question for you out of all the brady albums which is your favorite and what do you think of the new complete series of the brady bunch on DVD.

A: I think the best album was the one released on CD “Sunshine Day”. I am very happy with the DVD’s. It’s nice to have them all color enhanced and in real time with no editing – just the way we shot them.

Q: [by rag274] Is there anywhere I can purchase your performance in City of Angels on tape or DVD? It was outstanding and such good entertainment.

A: I thank you for asking but Equity rules prevent the unauthorized taping of live performances. City of Angels was my favorite show.

Q: [by CarolynMJ1977] What can fans expect from the Original Idols Show that you tour with? Are you on stage by yourself singing for a while? Do you meet with fans? I wish I could be there…Waukesha, WI (I used to live there….but do to a crime I witnessed there – double homicide execution style murder – I am too traumatized still to go back to the area!) I would really love to see you live.

A: I really enjoy doing our Original Idols Live Show. It is fun, fast paced and full of nothing but hits. As host, I open the show with a little Real Greg Brady, talk and sing during turnarounds and introduce each of the performers. I even give a little Brady dance lesson to audience members. Our core band is the same from beginning to end so the show keeps moving, the music is great and reactions from those who come to see the show has been very positive. I know you have some considerations but please try and make it, I’d love to see you there. After the show we all go out for autographs and pictures, so if you do come let me know.

Q: [by off2shea] Hey Barry, On a recent trip to California we stopped by the Brady House in Studio City. Wanted to know if any filming was done there or in the neighborhood and did you ever swing by to see the house?

A: Sure, I have seen the house many times. We did not actually film at that location. Film was taken of the home exterior which is what you see on the show, with an added upstairs window over the garage painted in.

Q: [by alphacapital] Barry,I hear that you are atennis player-I'm wondering how often you play and what level you are-Thanks

A: I play a couple of times a week. Love the sport and play USTA tournaments. I am a 4.5 level player.
