The Greg Brady Project

Welcome to the official Barry Williams' blog

My friends call me Barry. From time to time I also hear the name Greg. Yeah, as in Greg Brady. The Brady Bunch represents a fun time in my life. But it’s only part of the story. There’s more to say and that’s what The Greg Brady Project is all about – a place to say it. So, I’ve invited some friends to join me and share their perspectives on the Brady’s, the 70′s and just about everything else. Now, I’m inviting you…

Q: [by grubshteyn] Hi Mr. Williams, I read you are in a movie called DICKIE ROBERTS: FORMER CHILD STAR with David Spade(and I heard Adam Sandler is the executive producer). What was it like working with Spade and Sandler?

A: David Spade is, as you might expect a very cool guy with great looking girlfriends. He is funny, in a dry way, comfortable with who he is, and talented. Watch his work and you will get to know him. He just the same off stage as he is on. I have yet to meet Mr. Sandler.

Q: [by bambi087x] Hey Barry! Just wondering, who's your favorite Gilligan's Island character? Thanks Love Always Bambi

A: Gilligan is my favorite character. Cause without him it would be a very boring show.

Q: [by chambers_23] I just wanted to say it was awesome seeing you on the TVLAND awards singing "The Brady Bunch" with Maureen Mc Cormick. How did you feel seeing all those classic tv stars together again? Thanks for answering!

A: It was a magical night. A who’s who of classic television. It was a very relaxed affair and no one took the "awards" too seriously. It was great to see The Dick Van Dyke Show so deservedly honored. I have long felt that show set one of the highest standards for sitcoms.

Q: [by mikeze2003] Hi Barry. I would like to know if you know any place I could obtain a replica of the horse in the living room from your show.

A: It would be fun to have a replica at home. I honestly don’t know of any outlets but you might try ebay.

Q: [by grubshteyn] Dear Mr. Williams, My question is about your music career. I just wanted to know if you have you ever worked with any particularly famous singers. If you can, could you please answer in a short response.

A: I have had the good fortune to be a part of shows that include some of the most talented performers of the day. In the past two years I have either performed with or appeared on the same bill with, The Bee Gees, Smash Mouth, Jessica Simpson, Melissa Ethridge, Christina Aguilera, 98 Degrees, The Foo fighters, The Goo Goo Dolls, and Marc Anthony to name a few. Also having been a performer on The Billboard Music Awards two of the past three years I have run into just about everybody in the music world.

Q: [by grammadac] I just watched a movie called Active Stealth, the bad guy, whose name was Salvatore, was in the credits called Joe Lala, it was really you in that part wasn't it? I tried to find info on this Joe Lala and there isn't any. It was really you wasn't it? Please answer, it's driving me crazy! Thanks, Dorothy

A: Glad you didn’t bet any money on it. It must have been Joe because it wasn’t me.

Q: [by astronomywizkid] Hey Hey Barry, My names Ron but you can call me MC Ron MC meaning master charmer. I love all the brady bunch songs and still catch myself singing them to this day. I was just wondering if there's any songs that were written for the Brady kids that were never used on the show. If so what are the names of them and is there any websites where I could find the lyrics to those songs.

A: Sure we recorded lots of songs that never aired on The Brady Bunch. The Brady Kids recorded four albums and they are available through various means.(I don’t know of any one stop shopping.) The Album titles are, "Merry Christmas From The Brady Bunch", "Meet the Brady Bunch", "The Kids From The Brady Bunch" and "The Brady Bunch Phonographic Album". More recently a compilation CD was released called, "It’s A Sunshine Day - The Best of The Brady Bunch".

Q: [by barrybgb] Hi Barry, I was just wondering, since you spoofed Eminem on the awards show a while back, what exactly you thought of him and his music?.

A: I think Eminem is a very important artist. He is honest, angry, committed and talented. I realize much of his material is controversial, but for many kids he may take the edge off of their own frustrations with the knowledge they are not alone. I do think parental guidance is advised for listening to his raunchier cuts. I am a fan of his "Slim Shady"

Q: [by tsmith254] Hi Barry, When you did the episodes "The Cincinnati Kids" and the ones in Hawaii were the scenes of the house filmed in Hollywood before you traveled to the other locations or did they build the set and do it on location? Thanks, Tim Smith

A: To answer your question, please understand that as a general rule on television if you are not actually seeing the scenery,(you are interior) it is filmed on a set at on the lot. In our case the interior scenes were filmed both before and after we went on our respective locations. Interestingly we filmed the cave sequences with Vincent Price from the Hawaiian episodes on the original Gilligan’s Island backlot at a different studio in Los Angeles.

Q: [by chuggles28] Hi Barry I first have to say that I love the show and the movie. I just want to know if you get recognized alot when you go out and what are some of the things people say about the show Thanks-Angela

A: Sure I am recognized all the time. That’s because the show has been on continuously since the seventies, it plays in 142 different counties, and remember I haven’t exactly dropped out of sight since we filmed our original show. Check out S Club 7, find me in the Peter Gabriel video THE BARRY WILLIAMS SHOW, look for me in the new David Spade movie from Paramount called, "Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star".
