The Greg Brady Project

Welcome to the official Barry Williams' blog

My friends call me Barry. From time to time I also hear the name Greg. Yeah, as in Greg Brady. The Brady Bunch represents a fun time in my life. But it’s only part of the story. There’s more to say and that’s what The Greg Brady Project is all about – a place to say it. So, I’ve invited some friends to join me and share their perspectives on the Brady’s, the 70′s and just about everything else. Now, I’m inviting you…

Q: [by moody_angel012] Hi Mr. Williams! Thanks for answering my previous question. What college/university did you go to and what course did you take? Were you able to graduate? Thanks! :)

A: I attended Pepperdine University in Malibu and several extension courses offered by UCLA. I did general studies but ultimately found working and schooling at the same time to demanding and opted for work so I did not graduate. I compensate with lots of reading.

Q: [by andrewfumanchu] Hi Barry. What is your view on the war with Iraq? Thanks, Andrew Stevens

A: Hi Andrew... a big question. Saddam had to go, I think there is little question about that. It will take some time before we know all of the ramifications that produced the war. It is my hope that in relatively short order a new government can be installed, the Iraqi people can govern themselves and our troops can come home.

Q: [by Rubyeye324] I was wondering what other music do you listen to besides pop or rock? DO you enjoy acapella, or jazz or blues, classical…?

A: When I am at home I keep light classical music on throughout the day. But the music I study is Pop and Theatrical..

Q: [by osmond588] Hello, Okay I am just like so curious who was your favorite Brady? Because I am president of the Barry Williams fan club here in Byron, Illinois, and at our last meeting that was the topic and question most asked.

A: One doesn’t really have a "favorite" family member even if it’s only on TV, I like them all. I spent the most personal time these days with Christopher Knight and Susan Olsen.

Q: [by pianoman_63] Barry, I wanted to know are you writing or are you going to write any more books?

A: I don’t currently have a book project in the works. Most of my time is spent with developing my Vegas style show. The idea I have played with for a new literary work would most likely involve stories from touring, which I have done a substantial amount of, with the title "Road Warrior".

Q: [by FunNotProfit] Dear Barry: I've written this question before it's not been posted yet. I really want to know your opinion and thoughts on the 90's Show — The Brady's. In recent months I have finally got a chance to see this short lived series(copied from video) and we think it was exceptionally done ! Great acting on all fronts and very consistently so. Too bad it never caught on or was given the chance.

A: I enjoyed working on the show and felt it was ambitious to treat serious subjects in a "Brady" way. I would like to do another show that tackles similar themes but not with the same treatments. Ultimately I think the Brady’s live in a world that always works out well and suggests idealistic solutions.

Q: [by chikarl] Hi Barry, I really enjoyed the Return of Johnny Bravo CD and your rap parody. I was wondering if you have any plans on making a new album in the future or was that album a one of a kind project? If you are planning a new album what direction would you like to see it go! Karl

A: Thanks, I plan to give you many more opportunities to see performances. The type of album I did, which were mostly cover songs, was a one of a kind project. Yes, I will do another album. It will still be pop oriented but with original material and songs I write. No time frame is set.

Q: [by cbureau] What did you do when you were not acting?

A: I love to swim, play tennis, golf, and currently taking care of 4 1/2 month old Brandon fills up most of twenty four hours.

Q: [by moody_angel012] Did the smoking scene in Growing Up Brady really happen?

A: Of course. Everything in the TV Movie was exact or accurate in spirit. That was the great thing about producing my story. Some things had to be modified however. For instance the scene with Barry and Maureen in bed at the NY Hotel actually took place aboard the QE2 cruise ship. We didn’t have the budget to rent the ship. Also because of time constraints I had to adjust the time line a little. So some things that happened in the third year of life may have happened during the second year in the movie.

Q: [by tcurwen] Barry, What do you find more rewarding, the stage or television work and why? Thanks Barry, Glynn

A: Television is extremely rewarding because of the broad market you can appeal to. A successful TV series will get you all the stage productions you can handle. That said there is little more rewarding than working in front of a live audience.
