The Greg Brady Project

Welcome to the official Barry Williams' blog

My friends call me Barry. From time to time I also hear the name Greg. Yeah, as in Greg Brady. The Brady Bunch represents a fun time in my life. But it’s only part of the story. There’s more to say and that’s what The Greg Brady Project is all about – a place to say it. So, I’ve invited some friends to join me and share their perspectives on the Brady’s, the 70′s and just about everything else. Now, I’m inviting you…

Q: [by steak_pie] Was there a toilet in the Brady bathroom?

A: Of course not. Did you think we needed one? At that time it was against the FCC rules to show a porcelain toilet bowl on TV. So in the Brady house it was simply eliminated. In addition you might notice that all six kids shared the same bathroom. That’s TV.

Q: [by utahmommy] My daughter is a huge Wiggles fan, and it was a great surprise to see you on their latest video. I love the little Brady influences in the song, the intro and even the credits. What was it like to work with The Wiggles, and does you son now respect your work more, since you've sung with them? Thanks for all your hard work! Laurie in Wyoming

A: It was great fun to work with them. Nice guys all and we have developed a nice friendship. My son was a huge fan as well before the Christmas video came out. After I first put it on for our “little Man” to watch Daddy became a big star in the house. Of course we know who it is he who is the real “star.”

Q: [by bheyward] Barry, what do you think about Howard Stern moving his show to Sirius? Do you see it as further legitimacy of the network, a sign of more things to come? Just wondering. BRYANT

A: Absolutely huge move for Sirius. He will bring at least a million new subscribers. His show can fully utilize all of the advantages of satellite with no interference from the FCC. Also his name raises the profile of Sirius. There are all kinds of exciting things going on and I am glad to be a part of it with Totally Seventies.

Q: [by Preciousgirl719] Hey Barry, how's it going?? Well first of all I would like to say.. I love the Brady Bunch I am in my late twenties but still watch them.. It is so unreal.. But LOVE IT!! My question is…Well, I have "The Sunshine Day" Song and "Time to Change" and what's funny is that when I listen to you guys sing it doesn't sound like either of you guys.. Did you guys really sing or were there other singers involved in your music?

A: Those are our voices. Most of the Brady songs have a “sing-along” quality and our voices are doubled. Also we have really good studio singers doing harmonies and back-up which gives the tracks a more professional quality. They are the same singers who sang on the Partridge Family albums.

Q: [by tony726] Enough of the brady questions. Do u think the bills will win the super bowl?

A: Yes, but not this year. I am a fan of the Bills. I visit Buffalo every year for the World’s Largest Disco. This year, my tour of A Christmas Carol took us there. And the Bills are the first professional football team I sang the National Anthem for at their stadium. Go Buffalo, but I am going to hold off putting money on it.

Q: [by nasakiddav] Hello. My name is Dave. I was fortunate enough to see the performance of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol." PURE GENIUS! How does one keep up such stamina on a touring show such as that?

A: I am glad you got a chance to see it. Touring is tough work so it’s about pace, rest, and staying in shape. The hardest part of touring is not doing the actual show; it is all about the logistic surrounding it. Travel, hotels, planes, busses, cabs, etc. etc. It was great to do a holiday show during the holidays. Happy New Year!

Q: [by boppinbob05] Dear Barry I'm a big fan of yours, I was wondering if you are going to put out another CD and if you do when.

A: I have been so busy with the Christmas Carol tour and the Sirius radio show that I haven’t been able to concentrate on another CD yet. So I don’t have current plans, but I am anxious to get back in the studio and do a new one with original songs. Stay tuned and thanks for asking.

Q: [by Bla375] It was great to see you on the Surreal Life and now that Chris Knight is going to be on the new season I was wondering if you are going to be a guest (preferably on dry land?) Madeleine

A: I had a good time with the last one (even getting dunked by Bridgette) put do not plan to join Chris on the next one.

Q: [by yamahadt] Hello, Barry you rode motorcycles back in the Brady days, what kind did you have, and what kind do you have now? Thank you Derek

A: I rode several types of bikes. I used to flat track race a Honda S 90, I had a Triumph, and on the street I rode a Honda 350. I don’t own a bike now. I thought about it, but having a baby changed my mind, at least for the time being. I very much enjoy riding bikes and occasionally will rent them when I am on tour or vacationing. The last one I rented was a Harley soft tail -- it was awesome.

Q: [by Lisaloo73] Hi Barry, Does your son like to watch Sesame Street? If you had the opportunity to make a guest appearance on that show what character would you most like to perform with? Also, if you could select the Sesame Street song to sing what would it be? ~Lisa from Cleveland~

A: Elmo! He loves hearing Elmo’s World. His absolute favorites are The Wiggles and I got to perform in this season’s Christmas album and video with the song, "Wag’s Stop Your Barking". It was a great experience and he likes to see "Da" with the Wiggles.
