The Greg Brady Project

Welcome to the official Barry Williams' blog

My friends call me Barry. From time to time I also hear the name Greg. Yeah, as in Greg Brady. The Brady Bunch represents a fun time in my life. But it’s only part of the story. There’s more to say and that’s what The Greg Brady Project is all about – a place to say it. So, I’ve invited some friends to join me and share their perspectives on the Brady’s, the 70′s and just about everything else. Now, I’m inviting you…

Q: [by fleaptea] Hi.. my name is Felicia and this is actually my second time writing you. I was just curious as to the type of music you listen to. My daughter and I are more into the independent groups and that being said.. I was wondering if you have heard any of the new Hanson stuff and if so what your opinion is. If you haven't then you should check them out as they are quite good. Also "Michael Tolcher" he is good as well. Thanks! peace-out!!LOL

A: I listen to pop, rock and some rap music. I haven’t heard Hanson’s new album, but they are a true band. They are competent with writing, playing their own instruments and performing. They will be a band long after the teen scene dies out for them. Thanks for the tip, I’ll check out Michael Tolcher.

Q: [by ginageebs] Hi Barry, you were great in " A Christmas Carol", I was wondering if you'll be coming to NY again soon, maybe one of the theaters on Long Island, perhaps? And will you encourage your son to follow in your footsteps? Thanks for taking the time out for your fans, I have a 3yr old & a 1yr old and know that time isn't easy to come by! Gina

A: Thanks for writing; I am delighted you enjoyed A Christmas Carol. Like you as a Mom, being a full time Dad consumes most of my time so I don’t have any NYC or Long Island plans currently. Regarding my son, I have following in my footsteps, my feeling is that he can be or do anything he wants as a career right after college.

Q: [by dutch_59701] What was it like working with Tannis Montgomery and Barbara Bernstein?

A: It was always fun for us to have guests on our show. Barbara was a friend through Florence and it was nice to “work” together. Same with Tannis although I didn’t know her until I met her on our set.

Q: [by prime71146] Were you ever approached to pose nude?

A: No, this would be the first solicitation.

Q: [by stanjones68] Did you ever do a AARP advertisement?

A: Not yet. But I am a member.

Q: [by fchille] I know this is a dumb question, but in the episode "Will the real Jan Brady Please Stand Up" (where both Greg and Bobby are keeping a secret from Peter, and Peter tickle-tortures Bobby to get the secret out)was Mike Lookinland really ticklish, and was Chris Knight really tickling him? or was it just play-acting? Mike looked VERY ticklish to me…I heard somewhere that the scene had to be filmed several times because Mike was squirming too much. Is this true? Thanks!

A: You are very perceptive. That was a very real moment and Michael Lookinland is indeed ticklish. Chris Knight had a great time “torturing” him.

Q: [by hennebryseanlynne] Hi Barry. Loved you on the Brady Bunch! Just wanted to know if any of your family also went into showbiz? Thanks, Lynne

A: I am the only one in my family.

Q: [by glworth] Barry, thanks for answering our questions. I was wondering if you have a Brady Bunch lunchbox? I mean the the ones that came out in the 70's. They are very valuable now. I'm a collector so I was just curious. Thanks,

A: Yes, I do. I also own three of the new ones. I don’t actually use them for lunch however.

Q: [by andrew] Barry, "Cheyenne" is such a great song. Why wasn't it ever released? Also, how did you feel about the Brady cover of "American Pie?" It seems like a very odd song for the group to do.

A: Hi Andrew, we are on the same page. Cheyenne, my best effort during the Brady era, was not released due to record company politics. American Pie was the biggest single blunder in song selection made during the four albums we recorded. I understand Don McLean was not happy about it either.

Q: [by adong26] Have you ever met Hugh Beaumont?

A: No, I have not. I am aware of him and a fan but never had the pleasure. I wonder if Robert Reed did.
