The Greg Brady Project

Welcome to the official Barry Williams' blog

My friends call me Barry. From time to time I also hear the name Greg. Yeah, as in Greg Brady. The Brady Bunch represents a fun time in my life. But it’s only part of the story. There’s more to say and that’s what The Greg Brady Project is all about – a place to say it. So, I’ve invited some friends to join me and share their perspectives on the Brady’s, the 70′s and just about everything else. Now, I’m inviting you…

Q: [by pmcjannett] Was the lawn in the Brady Bunch turf?

A: That was a new (at the time) surface called Astro-Turf. It was hard, sharp, unpleasant and required occasional green spray paint touch-ups.

Q: [by theresa.mojica] Just Wanted to say Great website. Glad that TV Land is playing The Brady Bunch; watched the show growing up and glad that I can still watch them. When was the last time you visited Disney World?

A: The Brady’s did a special TV show at Disney World fourteen months ago. I love that park. I was there on the opening day of the new space ride – it is awesome.

Q: [by jhadleyou] Dear Barry, what year did you graduate from high school? Also, when Steven Speilberg's film "Jaws" came out in the mid-seventies, what did you think of the film? Thanks, John.

A: I graduated in seventy two. At the time Jaws came out I was doing a lot of surfing and didn’t particularly like being “scared of the water”. I thought it was a good movie but I never believed the shark was anything but mechanical.

Q: [by JosieCashew] Hi, Barry! Have you had any contact with Rita Wilson since she did the Brady "head cheerleader" episode?

A: I have not had contact with Rita over the years. She earned her SAG card while filming that episode of our show.

Q: [by coryholden] Hi Barry! Have you ever spent any time in Vancouver?

A: My Dad is from Regina, I have worked in several Canadian cities for extended periods of time but have never visited Vancouver. I enjoy Canada very much and look forward to a chance to get to Vancouver.

Q: [by kjharalson] Barry, I love to watch the Brady Bunch, and Full House.I saw the one when you were on Rush Hour Renegades,(the talk show Joey and Jesse did) recording your album. I really like that episode, because it had three of my favorite actors on it, you, John Stamos and Dave Coulier. How did you like working with John and Dave?Do you like the show Full House. If you like Full House, what was your favorite episode. I am thirteen years old and I live in Cabot, Arkansas, do you know if your tour will bring you anywhere in Arkansas, if so where and when? Thanks again for answering our questions. I love the Brady Bunch!!!!!!!!!!

A: I had a blast with Full House and the cast, all of them, were a joy to work with. Sorry, no current plans for Arkansas but keep checking the website. Thanks for writing.

Q: [by ashley_schosek] Hi, do you plan on doing the commentary for the rest of the seasons of The Brady Bunch coming out on DVD? And do you know if they are definitely coming out with Seasons 4&5? Thanks! :)

A: Susan Olsen, Christopher Knight and I did commentary for seasons 1 - 3. No definite word on seasons 4 & 5.

Q: [by ashley_schosek] In the A-Camping we Will Go episode, was all the dialogue recorded separately in a studio? It all sounds very weird and kind of echo-y. I wasn't sure. Thanks Again!

A: Much of what was filmed on location was re-recorded in studio for consistency. I think you’re right though it sounds artificial.

Q: [by dutch_59701] I know your taste in movies is preferably more adult themes from what you told me but did you see the final Star Wars movie and what did you think of it? I think it's the best of all 3 prequel and 6 movies.

A: I did see Revenge of the Sith and thought it was really well done. It had a story that was easier to follow than some of the other installments. The special effects were fantastic and Natalie Portman is easy on the eyes.

Q: [by Larissa] Hi Barry, it`s me, are you still working on Broadway?

A: This month I am not working on a Broadway show but I look forward to doing another show. Some of you may be aware I had some difficulties with Actor’s Equity a few years back. I am pleased to say that all outstanding issues have been resolved and I am once again a member in good standing with Equity.
