The Greg Brady Project

Welcome to the official Barry Williams' blog

My friends call me Barry. From time to time I also hear the name Greg. Yeah, as in Greg Brady. The Brady Bunch represents a fun time in my life. But it’s only part of the story. There’s more to say and that’s what The Greg Brady Project is all about – a place to say it. So, I’ve invited some friends to join me and share their perspectives on the Brady’s, the 70′s and just about everything else. Now, I’m inviting you…

Q: [by musteacher9] Dear Mr. Williams: I have seen (and recorded) the "70s music explosion" infommercial many times over. I am a HUGE 70s music fan, and was wondering if that era of music really takes you back to a great time in your life, and if you enjoyed the 70s and 70s music as much as I did?

A: Yes, I love the music from the seventies. I also host a radio show for Sirius satellite six days a week called The Barry Williams Show on Totally Seventies.

Q: [by polod] Hi Barry, I know you had a big crush and dated Maureen, but were you ever attracted to Eve Plumb, or was she ever interested in you? Thanks.

A: The simple answer is no. She was too young and I didn’t want to get Chris Knight mad at me.

Q: [by petgirlnz] Hey, have you ever met a fan who was so extremely obsessed with the Brady Bunch that it was scary?

A: Yes and by accident I took her out on a date. My first clue was when she continued to refer to me as Greg.

Q: [by benedge81] Are you a fan of The Bee Gees' disco songs of the mid-'70s? Examples of songs from this period include "Jive Talkin'", "You Should Be Dancing" and "Stayin' Alive." I do know however you did cover one of their earliest '60s songs "To Love Somebody."

A: Totally. Not only does the music hold up today, but it was ground breaking at the time and changed the course of music for several years.

Q: [by TJoh384120] Hi Barry What is your favorite and least favorite season of the Brady Bunch?

A: I felt the Third Season kind’ve floundered and I had the most fun with the Fifth.

Q: [by classicbmw2002] Hello Barry. I have two Brady Bunch questions. 1.) Was the Grand Canyon episode actually filmed on location? 2.)Was anyone ever hurt on the set during filming? Thank you, Raul.

A: Parts of the Grand Canyon episodes were shot on location at the Canyon. You can tell when you see the Canyon in the background. Yes, I was injured during the filming of the surfing episode in Hawaii. I cut my feet on some coral. You can actually see it when I fall headfirst off of my board. Also, Susan Olsen fell out of the outrigger when we were there but she was not injured.

Q: [by chikarl] Hi Barry, I really enjoyed you last record and was wondering when the next one will come out? Have you started any work on it? Will you be writing any songs for the album? What direction do you want the album to take.

A: I am not currently recording. The next CD will have almost all original songs, yes I will write some of them and I plan to include some interesting duets. Flav a Flav has expressed interest.

Q: [by dojocraig44] Barry, Recently, our family has purchased The Brady Bunch, DVD seasons 1-4, and we have enjoyed them very much. I was wondering about season 4, when you went to Hawaii. Were those episodes shot entirely on location, and did you enjoy working with the guest stars like Vincent Price, Don Ho?

A: Best Brady filming experience of them all. We were in Hawaii for a couple of weeks where much of the three-parter was filmed. Vincent Price was shot at CBS Studio Center here in CA on the Gilligan’s Island Set. I very much enjoyed working both with Vincent Price, who was a guest star a few years later on the Brady Variety Show, and Don Ho, who I worked with just two summers ago.

Q: [by Ethancass] Do you like getting asked all these questions from every body?

A: It is what I live for.

Q: [by joshuacaseyccsu] Hello Barry: A couple of unrelated questions – 1) Are you a hoop fan? If so, whom do you like in the NBA playoffs?

A: Don’t know enough to make the pick. Hope your favorite teams win.
