The Greg Brady Project

Welcome to the official Barry Williams' blog

My friends call me Barry. From time to time I also hear the name Greg. Yeah, as in Greg Brady. The Brady Bunch represents a fun time in my life. But it’s only part of the story. There’s more to say and that’s what The Greg Brady Project is all about – a place to say it. So, I’ve invited some friends to join me and share their perspectives on the Brady’s, the 70′s and just about everything else. Now, I’m inviting you…

Q: [by mcdc1] BARRY, I'M A HUGE FAN. I LOVED WHEN YOU AND THE REST OF THE GANG WERE AT MGM STUDIOS IN FLORIDA. I WAS WONDERING WHO THE OTHER THREE PEOPLE AND TWO KIDS WERE WITH YOU?

A: We had a guide, my son Brandon, his nanny and Brandon’s Mom.

Q: [by kbmoser] Hi Barry. Grew up with the Brady's. I am the youngest brother of 4 siblings. 3 being brothers. Must have been nice to play the older brother on the set. How do you get along with your real brothers today?

A: I am very close with my brothers. The middle brother lives in AZ so we don’t get to see him as often but we all get along very well.

Q: [by ambfreckles] Wow..this is really nice of you to answer questions…I loved the Brady Bunch you and Maureen were and still my favorite characters..I was wondering was there glass in the doors of the brady house where the family room was?

A: You are very perceptive. No, there was no glass as the reflection was problematic for lighting. We constantly had to fight the urge of walking through the sliding doors.

Q: [by stanman000] Are there any shows currently in production, or on TV you feel capture the feel of the Brady Bunch?

A: In a word, no. There are some good programs on but even the family type shows miss the kind of innocence the Brady’s had.

Q: [by clayton] I remember hearing somewhere that you had gone to school to become a dentist. Is this true?

A: How rumors get going shall forever remain a mystery to me. No, I have never pursued a career as a dentist.

Q: [by queenbee61692] Dear Mr. Williams, my whole family's favorite episodes of the Brady Bunch are when you are all singing together. Were they your real voices or were they lip syncing? Also do you remember every episode?

A: Yes they are our real voices. I sometimes say you couldn’t get professional singers to sound like that. There are studio singers who sing with us during the chorus. I remember almost every episode, mostly because I am asked about them often and also I wrote the book.

Q: [by achabak] How often do you get the chance to see all the other cast members you have worked with? What is Shirley Jones and David Cassidy and the rest of the Partridge Family cast members like? Have you ever met or worked with them? All the cast from Brady Bunch and others are up in age now. Ever meet Donnie & Marie Osmond and Brothers?

A: I see everyone every few months or so. I don’t know what Shirley Jones and David Cassidy are up to. And yes, I have met the Osmond clan several times including guesting on Donny and Marie’s Variety Show.

Q: [by adong26] Hi Barry, you obviously have that 70's image and I was wondering if you had ever been approached to put your name or even help design clothes for teens/early 20's age male/female line? Perhaps "The Barry Williams Collection."

A: Great idea let’s do it.

Q: [by melmartins2002] Do you ever go to auditions or seek character parts on current television series. I think that you have matured well and be great as a guest on one of the Law & Order shows. If not, What a waste of talent. A forever fan, Mel

A: Thanks for writing and the compliment Mel. Yes, I go out for roles and I just taped a role on According To Jim which will be on in January and I will also will be taping an episode of That Seventies Show next month. No airdate yet.

Q: [by KristenFabulous] Hi Barry, I am a huge fan of yours. A Very Brady Christmas is one of my favorite Christmas movies, what's your favorite memory from making that movie? And what's your favorite Christmas memory?

A: Favorite memory from A Very Brady Christmas has to be singing O Come All Ye Faithful as Mike Brady emerged from beneath the rubble of a collapsed building. Favorite Christmas memory: a new blue bike arriving Christmas morning and I was just certain Santa Claus put it there.
