The Greg Brady Project

Welcome to the official Barry Williams' blog

My friends call me Barry. From time to time I also hear the name Greg. Yeah, as in Greg Brady. The Brady Bunch represents a fun time in my life. But it’s only part of the story. There’s more to say and that’s what The Greg Brady Project is all about – a place to say it. So, I’ve invited some friends to join me and share their perspectives on the Brady’s, the 70′s and just about everything else. Now, I’m inviting you…

Q: [by sck869] Barry, The Brady Bunch and Gilligan's Island are still my 2 favorite shows. Since Sherwood Produced both, did you have the chance to meet all of the castaways? Any recollections you care to share? Thanks!

A: Yes, I have met all of the castaways with the exception of Natalie Schaffer. Jim Backus was of course a guest on one of The Brady Bunch Grand Canyon episodes. I can’t confirm it just yet but I am in dialogue with Sherwood and Lloyd Schwartz about doing a production of GILLIAGAN’S ISLAND the MUSICAL starring Dawn Wells and Barry Williams as Mr. & Mrs. Howell early next year in Florida. More on that later. Thanks for writing.

Q: [by Astephanie7] Barry, Have you ever had anyone give you a nikename, Besides Jonny Bravo?

A: Oh yeah, Greggie and Casanova of Clinton Avenue but my favorites are BDOG and Stuff.

Q: [by harly_cheney!] Barry, when did you want to start to sing?

A: As soon as I could drive myself to singing lessons which in my case was at 15 ½ when I rode my motorcycle.

Q: [by bitbitpepper] Hi Barry. Our names are Stacy and Lee. We grew up watching The Brady Bunch and really enjoyed it. We were wondering were you ever on Florence Henderson's cooking show in the eighties? If so, what did you cook or sing and if not what would you have done? Thanks!

A: Yes, I was on her show. I had a great time with her and I baked chicken covered in yogurt and parmesan cheese mmmm.

Q: [by joshuacaseyccsu] Hello Barry: Going back to Dickie Roberts…you had mentioned you enjoyed working with your fellow former child stars. Did you already know these other stars or were there some you met for a first time? Were there any you were looking to forward to meeting for a first time? Keep up the good work, Josh

A: I did meet a couple of them for the first time. Lief Garrett, and Dustin Diamond were first time acquaintances. I of course knew Danny Bonaduce from the boxing ring.

Q: [by biz] I remember in the late 80's watching reruns of the 70's game show "Make Me Laugh" and seeing the Brady kids in the studio audience for one show. Do you remember doing that? It might have been around the time of the Brady Bunch Hour Variety Show. Did you get to meet Gallagher and some of the other comedians?

A: Yes I did. I had a blast being on the show but I wanted the contestant to win the prize so I didn’t laugh. She was thrilled but the comedians were mad at me.

Q: [by JohnKnight67] Barry,I was just wondering if you are a college football fan or a sports fan in general? If so,who is your favorite team or teams? Thanks.

A: I like the Dodgers, and the Angels, and the Raiders. Guess you can tell I am from LA, huh? I also follow professional golf and tennis.

Q: [by GRAMLINS2000] Hi Barry. My name is Ed Winters and I am a big fan of the Brady Bunch. I am also a semi retired ventriloquist and also a big fan of Paul Winchell. So my question is when he was on the set with you guys in the "Safe Detergent" episode, I've got to know did he bring Jerry Mahoney down with him to the set?

A: To make you feel better I would like to say yes. I understand he tried but “Jerry” said no.

Q: [by ChristianJsB] One of my favorite BB episodes is when Peter's voice starts to change. How did he make his voice sound like that? Also,I think you and the rest of the kids did very well on that song in the same episode.

A: I taught Chris how to crack his voice.

Q: [by alex.bishop] You are my favorite Brady on The Brady Bunch. Did you ever meet the real Elvis or see his concert?

A: One of my great regrets is that I never saw Elvis perform live.
