The Greg Brady Project

Welcome to the official Barry Williams' blog

My friends call me Barry. From time to time I also hear the name Greg. Yeah, as in Greg Brady. The Brady Bunch represents a fun time in my life. But it’s only part of the story. There’s more to say and that’s what The Greg Brady Project is all about – a place to say it. So, I’ve invited some friends to join me and share their perspectives on the Brady’s, the 70′s and just about everything else. Now, I’m inviting you…

Q: [by chavalabobby] Did you ever see the movie Superman Return?

A: Not yet, I am waiting for the DVD.

Q: [by kkb2u] What are your brothers names and how much older are they than you?

A: Craig is four and a half years older, Scott is three years older and I guess that makes me Bobby in my family.

Q: [by angusoy] Hi Barry! We all have read how it was like working with Robert Reed and Florence Henderson, but what was it like working with Ann B. Davis? She seems like she was a wounderful actress and very funny.

A: Annie B. was and continues to be a great friend. She was very experienced in television having won emmy’s for her role as Schultzie on the Bob Cummings Show. So at first our relationship was very professional. I learned a great deal from watching and interacting with her. As time went on she softened up. We used to enjoy hitting tennis balls against the sound stage wall.

Q: [by nyactor] Hi Barry! I'm a struggling actor and wanted to know what advice you would give for cold reads when auditioning?

A: Read: How To Audition by Michael Shurtliff.

Q: [by Astephanie7] Barry Want was your best song from return of Johnny Bravo?

A: Drift Away

Q: [by westontl] Barry, I have written you before, and you were so nice to answer my question, I ask if you might oblige me again. I had another question; I noticed on some of the B.B. episodes, that Maureen wore a light purple sweater in almost 7 different shows…were you able to wear your own clothes on the show, or were they chosen for you? And did you have favorites. (like we all do) Thanks again, Take Care. Tammy

A: We went shopping at the beginning of each season and purchased the clothes we wore for that year. Sometimes you will see on subsequent years Peter wearing my hand me downs and Bobby wearing Peter’s. Occasionally we snuck in our own wardrobe such as my fringe leather jacket for one of our singing episodes.

Q: [by woodvalian] HERE'S a question that I don't think has been asked before! Barry, do you believe in reincarnation (past lives)? Would be most interested in what amusing comments (or serious reflections) you might have. Colin

A: I believe we are a life force that is ongoing and indestructible. Reincarnation is a definite possibility but I try and live this life as though every moment counts.

Q: [by GRAMLINS2000] Hey Barry! Big fan. Wanted to know what's in the future as far as films, television, and stage. Big fan. Ed Winters

A: I always have lots of things in the works. Because of the nature of the business schedules change frequently. The best way to stay up with what is current is on the website: Thanks for writing.

Q: [by edander] Barry, I just watched Living in TV Land last night. Congrats on throwing a perfect strike – or so it seemed from the special effects ;-) I was curious on how many entertainment industry folks you hang around with from the 70s and 80s since we saw you playing pool with Julie McCullough (Growing Pains), Jeff Conaway (Taxi), and Mackenzie Phillips (One Day at a Time). How did you end up meeting and becoming friends with these 3 actors?

A: Jeff and I toured together in A Christmas Story in December of 2004. Living, working and touring together for 8 weeks gave us a chance to become pretty well acquainted. I have known Mackenzie for many years both social and professional. We have hosted events together and also did a tour of TV Hit Parade in 2005. Jeff brought Julie McCullough and I am glad he did. She is a firecracker.

Q: [by robinwilliamsfan] Have you ever met Robin Williams? If you have is he nice?

A: I have met him but I don’t know him. People I know that are familiar with him have very nice things to say. I am a big fan of his work and his choices in movies.
