The Greg Brady Project

Welcome to the official Barry Williams' blog

My friends call me Barry. From time to time I also hear the name Greg. Yeah, as in Greg Brady. The Brady Bunch represents a fun time in my life. But it’s only part of the story. There’s more to say and that’s what The Greg Brady Project is all about – a place to say it. So, I’ve invited some friends to join me and share their perspectives on the Brady’s, the 70′s and just about everything else. Now, I’m inviting you…

Q: [by cogitolateral] In no particular order, please describe your nicest, silliest and scariest encounters with a fan(s)?

A: Nicest: A fan shared how through watching our show it gave her hope from a very challenging family world she was trapped in. She went on to become not only successful but happy. Silliest: A girl who brought four friends along on our first blind date. They remained hidden (‘till I spotted them) and were there to spy on us. There wasn’t a second date. Scariest: Being chased by fans, who had turned into a mob, following a Brady Bunch Kids Concert. They were screaming and trying to pull at us. I was concerned about Susan and the girls, and wasn’t sure we would be able to calm the crowd. We did get away.

Q: [by danh] What do you do to keep yourself looking so young?

A: Well thank you. There are things that I do to stay active and healthy, but the bottom line to looks I think, are genetics. I Swim, play tennis and golf. I eat well, low sugar, few desserts. I also have hair transplants; they help.

Q: [by Duffgirl69] Did you ever see "The Brady Bunch in the Whitehouse"? What did you think of it?

A: Yes, I watched The Brady Bunch in the Whitehouse. Maybe I am a purist, but I felt the show took a direction away from the core believability and values of our original show. It was a cute idea with likeable players but I had trouble suspending reality.

Q: [by CarolynMJ1977] I just read that you have a son that would be about 4 years old now? How does being on the road affect you being a dad? And what kind of dad would you say you are? Are you alot like your own father? Like Robert Reed? Silly questions I know…but I am curious. And are you a hopeless romantic? Or pretty down to earth/logical – not so mushy? Carrie

A: Travel complicates fatherhood a bit but we make moving around an adventure. He has joined me on several trips including FL, NC, HI, etc. He has sure racked up some serious sky miles. As to the type of dad I am, I am probably more like Mike Brady than my own father and not really like Robert Reed at all. I am hopelessly romantic. But that doesn’t mean I am not down to earth and logical. There is plenty of room for both.

Q: [by wi4nk] I often listen to your show on Sirius, but cannot follow the lyrics to the theme song. Can you list them?

A: Here you go: Here’s the story of a guy named Barry Whose chest hair is long and dark with lots of curls He was Greg Brady on The Brady Bunch It got him lots of girls Every Sunday through to Friday two six eastern You can hear him on your high tech stereo On the channel called Totally Seventies Right here on the Sirius satellite radio It’s Barry’s show, Greg Brady’s show Travel back on the Barry Williams Show

Q: [by jcstarkey] Hi. I liked seeing the Brady cast together again on that TV Land reunion show a few years back, but I didn't like Jenny McCarthy as host. I would've preferred that one of the cast act as host and you all sat and discussed your own topics together. What do you see in the future regarding specials with the Brady cast? Also, why wasn't Eve Plumb with you guys at the TV Land Awards this year? Thanks!

A: I am usually the last one to know when a reunion is planned, but I expect there will be more. Eve Plumb’s participation is always in question. She is not comfortable being known as a Brady and makes choices to join various projects on a case by case basis. I understand she was traveling in Europe at the time the TVLand Award Show was taped.

Q: [by whynotjuggernaut] Hey Barry, Would you by any chance be doing any musical (as in "broadway musical") tours in the near future?

A: I don’t have any scheduled right now but check the website ‘cause there are a couple that I am considering. Right now I am busy touring with The Original Idols Live in concert.

Q: [by CarolynMJ1977] If you could have one wish – What would it be??

A: Uh, for a million more wishes? Seriously, my wish is simple: I wish people would follow the Golden Rule.

Q: [by GRAMLINS2000] Hey Barry, Do you like the X-Files and second what did you think of the episode involving the "Brady Bunch"?

A: Yes I am a fan of the X-Files and I loved the surreal episode about the Brady’s

Q: [by h_pabst] Hi Mr. Williams: Gilligans Island the musical sounds like a lot of fun! I hope you continue to enjoy the show. Are there any plans to bring the show "up north?" It is hard to believe it has been almost two years since we saw you in "Hanging with the TV Land Stars" – are there any plans for more shows? Whatever you do my thoughts are with you for every continued success and happiness

A: Thanks Hank for the kind thoughts. I am working with the producer of Gilligan’s Island the Musical on several productions, some of which I may appear in. A tour for 2008 is in the works but not finalized. What do you think of the idea of Paris Hilton as “Ginger?” in Las Vegas. There seems to be some interest. I would play the Professor.
