The Greg Brady Project

Welcome to the official Barry Williams' blog

My friends call me Barry. From time to time I also hear the name Greg. Yeah, as in Greg Brady. The Brady Bunch represents a fun time in my life. But it’s only part of the story. There’s more to say and that’s what The Greg Brady Project is all about – a place to say it. So, I’ve invited some friends to join me and share their perspectives on the Brady’s, the 70′s and just about everything else. Now, I’m inviting you…

Q: [by bambino2114] Hi Barry, Do you have any advice for childhood stars who peek early in their career and then find it hard to regain the notoriety and success they once had? Don't you think the entertainment industry can put a lot of pressure on a young adult?

A: Believe in who you are not what others believe. (They change their minds) There is a lot of pressure in every industry and it is particularly acute for children.

Q: [by BobHogan4] Have you ever seen the movie "White Men Can't Jump"? If so, what did you think of all of the "Brady Bunch" references? Does that feel really cool…or annoying?

A: I thought it was very cool, especially given the context. When I saw the movie I didn’t know the Brady’s were referenced in it and it made me laugh. Pretty amazing to me where the Brady’s turn up.

Q: [by seemommyshop] Hi Barry, Like you, I am a parent of a young child, mine is a two-year-old girl. Since your son is a little older than my daughter, I was wondering if you have any "pearls of wisdom" that you can pass along to other toddler parents like myself.

A: I enjoyed “Happiest Toddler on the Block” by Dr. Harvey Karp. It is informational, easy to read and the techniques are effective. Good luck and God Bless.

Q: [by jackbrown] How was it playing Thurston Howell III in "Gilligan's Island: The Musical?" Would you do it again?

A: I had a blast playing Thurston. Sure, I’d do it again, especially if my “Lovey” is once again, Dawn Wells

Q: [by calabresenan] Do you still keep in contact with Maureen McCormick? Watched the local news and Kimberly Locke stated it was the hardest 100 days of her life with the Celebrity Fit Club. Has Maureen commented to you or another cast member what it was like?

A: She said what you said. The hardest ten days of her life. The Brady’s will all be getting together in April for the TVLand Award Show. We have been nominated for an award for classical television.

Q: [by vmnrao] I think it's great that you take the time to answer fan questions so often- thanks! My question is about your performance with the "Brady Kids" as a band. Do you remember who any of the band members were (drums, bass, trumpet, etc.) on those tours or on your albums? Sounded like a top-notch backing band, especially on the "Kids from the Brady Bunch" album.

A: I haven’t been in touch with the band for quite a while. They were a great group of talented guys and we had a blast touring together.

Q: [by djhunt] Hi Barry, what type of tv shows do you enjoy watching nowadays? Do you have any favorite shows or favorite channels?

A: I like some of the sitcoms like George Lopez and King of Queens. But I am a big fan of the Law and Order shows.

Q: [by deannauzelac] Hi Barry. What is your take on young stars today such as Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan? Is it different being a child star now compared with your day you think?

A: Yes I think there is a great deal more scrutiny placed on young stars today. I think it is particularly difficult for girls.

Q: [by vg56436p] Hi, Mr. Williams. Are you into any sports and root for any particular teams? :)

A: I am mostly an LA fan so favorites are the Dodgers and the Lakers but I am also a fan of the Chicago Cubs.

Q: [by Jack176] Big fan here!! I had heard a while back that everyone close to you refers to you as "Razzlebarry." Is this true??

A: RGB (Real Greg Brady), Johnny Bravo, Casanova of Clinton Avenue, B dawg, Stuff, and Ace. No one has called me Razzlebarry and gotten away with it.
