The Greg Brady Project

Welcome to the official Barry Williams' blog

My friends call me Barry. From time to time I also hear the name Greg. Yeah, as in Greg Brady. The Brady Bunch represents a fun time in my life. But it’s only part of the story. There’s more to say and that’s what The Greg Brady Project is all about – a place to say it. So, I’ve invited some friends to join me and share their perspectives on the Brady’s, the 70′s and just about everything else. Now, I’m inviting you…

Q: [by sierria64] Is there an actress that you would love to work with. Lets choose from three different catogories; African American, Hispanic and Caucassian? Whom would you choose, and why from all three catorgories?

A: Halle Berry, Jennifer Lopez, Drew Barrymore. All are loaded with talent.

Q: [by sbenty] As characters acting out their roles as the Brady's, the "Bunch" never has really dealt with the death of Mike Brady. None of the reunion shows (since his death) have had you in character, so it's just spoken openly that Robert Reed died many years ago. Considering the following you have, do you think it may be time to have the show deal with it or is it felt that it would somehow harm the show in any way. Have you any insights or information on the subject? Thanks.

A: I think it would be very interesting to deal with the loss of Mike Brady. I don’t think it would harm the integrity of our show. I can’t promise it’s going to happen though.

Q: [by lindanathaniel] Sir Michael Caine said that the rehearsal is the stress. The performance is the relaxation. Do you agree?

A: Yes, I agree. Rehearsal includes all the possibilities and by the time performance comes around things have been narrowed down a bit.

Q: [by Astephanie7] Barry, 1 question was playingthe guitar hard for you? 2 question when did you start play the guitar. Hope you have a great Birthday this year!!!! Love ya.

A: I started playing the guitar when I was about eleven. I find the more you practice the easier playing gets. It takes a lot of practice.

Q: [by cogitolateral] Were pranks ever played behind the scenes; and if so, who was the biggest prankster and what was the most memorable one you recall.

A: I recall convincing Eve Plumb that I had a glass eye. I even went to an optometrist and got a real glass eye and dropped it into her hand, pretending to pluck it from my eye socket. I got a good scream out of that one.

Q: [by brady_boy_87] Oh man I hope you answer to this soon! I loooove the Brady bunch and believe it or not I'm only 13 years old and it's the best show in the world!!!! I live in Hawaii and I've seen the 3 Brady bunch in Hawaii episodes however I don't live in O'ahu I live on Kauai but I wanted to ask you. How long did you and the cast stay in Hawaii? And when you guys wern't filming where did you guys go?

A: First, Hawaii remains my favorite place in the world and I visit often. We filmed on Oahu for three weeks. When we weren’t filming I was surfing, hiking and just plain ole hangin out. It was an unforgettable and very special time.

Q: [by McCurdyOriginal] After all these years, do people really still come up to you and think you are Greg Brady?

A: There are many people who know Greg Brady and have never heard of Barry Williams. I try to go with the flow.

Q: [by acabralfx] Hello Barry, I was wondering if you had a good time yesterday in RI?

A: I had a great time in RI, thanks for asking. My guess is that we may have met although I don’t recognize your email name. I had a wonderful hostess there and I enjoyed the bus tour, museums, the Tennis Hall of Fame, (where I played center court) and we ate very well too. All in all a great trip.

Q: [by fishemal] How beneficial do you think the 'canned laughter' was to The Brady Bunch? You are perhaps one of only a handful of people who was actaully on the scene without the benefit of the laugh track? Was there ever talk of doing the show in front of a live audience?

A: Ours is a show that benefited from canned laughter. It is like adding a soundtrack. It helps the pacing of the show and keeps a light edge on the material. It didn’t bother me that it was added later. That way we could work to the values of the scene and not worry about how hard anyone was laughing.

Q: [by mitchturb] Hey Barry, what was the last concert you attended? Who is your favorite musical artist?

A: Justin Timberlake. I think he is a terrific musician and performer. Favorite all time? Elton John and Tom Jones.
